This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced scientist to join a globally leading biopharmaceutical development and research organisation based in the North West.


In this role, you will be conducting various characterisation and analytical experiments, involving some method development and validation. A background in gene therapy / biologics is preferred but experience in other relevant areas, eg. Small molecules will be considered.

  • Responsible for performing assay development, routine and cGMP testing for new product development programmes
  • Put forward and deliver ideas to overcome technical problems or introduce new efficiencies.
  • Collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams to deliver requirements of projects.
  • Training in new analytical methods and training others in techniques/technologies.
  • Transfer of methods through to routine application either internally or to external partners.
  • Identify and lead on the delivery of new capital equipment items to increase Analytical Sciences capabilities.
  • Subject matter expert in areas relating to analytical method development, method transfer, phase appropriate validation and stability testing.
  • Taking ownership of the installation and validation of analytical equipment where required by writing and executing equipment validation documentation including but not limited to URS, trace matrix, IOQ, SOP’s, protocols and reports

About You

  • Minimum qualification of BSc in science related subject (or equivalent). A PhD is preferred and/or relevant industrial experience in the biologics industry within a GMP environment or with an understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Experienced in the analysis of biomolecules.
  • Working knowledge of analytical techniques including but not limited to:
    • Characterisation (Mass Spectrometry, biophysical analysis)
    • Chromatography (SE-UPLC, RP-HPLC, AEX, HILIC)
    • Electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, cIEF)
    • Immunoassays (ELISA, Potency, HCP, HCDNA)
  • Experience in writing procedures, protocol and reports.
  • Clear understanding of the science and a passion for keeping abreast and implementing analytical advancements.
