Scope

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute and complete abrasive product development programmes, of major importance to the Abrasive Divisions, within agreed timelines.
  • Innovatively apply and extend the use of existing and new abrasive technologies to Lead/Support NPI/LSS/RM Substitution projects.
  • Lead technical commercialisation activity in relation to assigned programmes.
  • Create and maintain product and raw material specifications.
  • Explore potentials for future reduction in product costs to maintain competitiveness of products.
  • Review, analyse and initiate resolution of customer product performance issues utilising Six Sigma methodologies where appropriate.
  • Develop an extensive understanding of abrasive related technologies, applications and key market segments in order to anticipate and recommend significant future new product opportunities.
  • Maintain awareness of current safety policies, regulatory affairs, product responsibility, toxicology, environmental issues.

About You

  • Degree level or equivalent desirable
  • Relevant Scientific/Engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of coating technologies, resin chemistry and/or mineral technologies
  • Knowledge of composite technology
  • Experience in six sigma methodologies
  • Experience of product commercialisation
  • Science or engineering background
  • Determination to solve problems
  • Curious to learn new techniques and processes
