Operations Manager

Scope

My client is a manufacturer and distributor of pharmaceutical, veterinary, healthcare and food products for the animal health industry. They now have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager to join their team on a full time, permanent basis.

The primary purpose of the role is to take full responsibility for the performance of the manufacturing unit and warehouse from adherence to the production plan and GMP compliance through to budgetary control, performance improvements and tactical direction.

Responsibilities

  • All production of finished and semi-finished goods, in line with customer, quality (GMP and HACCP) demand and as scheduled by the planning department.
  • Maintenance of production equipment and the design and implementation of production related capital purchases.
  • The compliance with statutory environmental requirements, maintenance and care of buildings and premises.
  • Full responsibility for optimising the warehousing and distribution performance activities and staff and to ensure the team are organized and aligned to the daily/weekly objectives.
  • To oversee the accuracy and quality of production related data (timings, BOMs, routings, production effectiveness data, KPI’s etc.) and all related production documentation.
  • Responsible for ensuring all product introductions can be manufactured efficiently, suggesting improvements to aid production performance and supporting the marketing team in bringing product ideas to market.
  • To oversee the effective delivery of Health and Safety on the site and act as the liaison with external Health and Safety providers.

About You

  • Current or recent senior experience managing manufacturing - Essential
  • Experience of managing Health and Safety - Essential
  • Experience of using and implementing ERP and other computerised systems to improve performance.
  • Experience within Pharmaceutical or Food Manufacturing - Desirable
  • NEBOSH Qualification - Desirable
  • HACCP training - Desirable
  • Green belt - Desirable
  • Current or previous experience within FMCG business
  • Experience of GMP/HACCP
  • In lean tools (5S, Kaizen, Visual Management, Value Stream Mapping, six sigma, SMED, etc.)
  • Experience in product development (food) and dealing with commercial request
  • Implementing new systems, experience of SAP
