National Account Manager - Retail

12 Month Contract

Scope

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced National Account Manager to join a global technology company who operate in over 100 countries.

This position is to manage the Consumer Retail Division to drive growth with Retail customers across the UK. Our client is backing the region with strong marketing investments to support accelerated growth and the successful candidate will bring a growth mindset to win range and seasonal space that drives category value. The approach is insight led category management, while developing company partnerships through longer term strategic joint business planning.

The successful applicant will need to be based in UK and be able to travel when required to visit customer premises.

Responsibilities

  • Account management responsibility for a portfolio of major UK retailers.
  • Development and execution of key account plans focussing on delivering strategic outcomes from channel planning process.
  • Input into future annual channel planning processes.
  • Engaging at buyer/category manager level to develop progressive Joint Business Plans that align to both company and customer’s strategic priorities.
  • Application of category management principles to range reviews and seasonal proposals to maximise company range presence on core fixture and at key seasons.
  • Accurate inventory and financial forecasting into the business.
  • Working in partnership with your Channel Shopper Marketer to understand retailer strategies, shopper insight, market data and deliver impactful instore execution programmes.
  • Opportunity to project lead wider business initiatives

About You

  • Graduate level qualification preferable but not essential
  • GAP Negotiation or similar level training experience
  • Highly developed Excel skills and competency in handling complex data analytics
  • Track record of success within an FMCG Retail account management setting, delivering business growth and new business development (sales and gross margins through a profitable mix).
  • Building annual joint business plans collaboratively with customers to maximise growth.
  • Understanding of retail category management principles and application in influencing ranging decisions.
  • Excellent commercial negotiation skills.
  • Excellent influencing skills both internally and externally, up and down the organisation
  • Strong opportunity pipeline creation and management skills (Sales Force CRM system)
  • Displays total account management; cost to serve, supporting cash receivables and inventory planning.
  • Demonstrates ability to lead project teams for effective outcomes
  • Ability to facilitate and encourage key relationships between Company & Customers throughout the organisation in Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, Accounts Receivables, Customer Service and at Director level.
  • Challenger and Hunter mentality; Ability to work under pressure, bring a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and seek out new business development opportunities with tenacity.
