Lead Chemotherapy Nurse



Rare opportunity for a high-calibre Chemotherapy Nurse with leadership experience to work with a pioneering, innovative and reputed private healthcare provider at the heart of first-class patient care.


  • Ensure appropriate support to patients, their families and other healthcare professionals following diagnosis and through all stages of disease trajectory
  • Ensure continuity of a high standard of evidence based, nursing care for patients undergoing chemotherapy, assessing health, health related and nursing needs of patients, their families and other carers by identifying and initiating appropriate steps for effective care.
  • Ensure all patients have an accurate plan of care, reflecting the assessment undertaken and incorporating issues and recommendations
  • Ensuring accurate and timely documentation
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in intravenous access, the management of central venous catheters, venesection, and chemotherapy delivery, including the management of anaphylaxis and extravasation.
  • Facilitate the professional development of staff within the Centre through effective communication and the sharing of best practice. Ensure staff meet all their training requirements and competencies ensuring all training requirements are completed.

About You

  • Registered Nurse minimum 5 years’ experience
  • Experience of working in a private patient setting
  • An advanced practitioner either through formal qualification (as above) and/or extensive clinical experience within oncology and chemotherapy administration
  • Experience in clinical leadership
  • Experience in budgetary management
  • Ability to impart complex information to patients, relatives and carers, with different levels of understanding
  • Ability to build up a rapport with patients, staff and external providers
  • Have proven experience of service development
  • Experience of running research and audit programmes
  • Experience of working with the private health sector
  • Commercial awareness
  • Accredited chemotherapy course
  • NMC Level 1 or Level 15 Registered Nurse
  • Degree (BSc) or equivalent in a health-related subject
  • Relevant post-registration qualification in oncology/chemotherapy administration
  • Ideally holding an ALS level with the Resuscitation Council or be willing to be trained to that level of competency
  • Understanding of clinical governance and risk assessment
  • Clear understanding of safeguarding procedures
