Field Service Engineer



This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced customer-facing maintenance engineer to join a market- leading animal health company as part of their poultry business unit. This role offers a highly competitive package, as well as a clearly defined route for progression.


In this role, you will be responsible for the smooth function of a range of state-of-the-art poultry vaccination and hatchery equipment, which includes servicing, maintenance and installations.

  • Routine servicing and maintenance of vaccination and hatchery equipment.
  • Provide outstanding customer service.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical breakdowns, responding quickly to customer needs.
  • Schedule and preparing interventions to suit client’s production schedule.
  • Stock control of country and customer spare parts.
  • Development and implementation of preventative maintenance plans.
  • Preparing and submitting maintenance reports.
  • Providing and tracking operator training sessions.
  • Assisting customer in optimising production performance.
  • Installation of new vaccination new equipment.
  • Communicating with the Ecat-iD and Desvac Campus Engineering teams.
  • Assisting VSE team to identify new business opportunities.
  • Respecting hatchery biosecurity requirements Inspecting and assessing the functionality of production machines.

About You

To be suitable for this role, you will have a good knowledge of advanced electrical and mechanical industrial machinery, as well as excellent troubleshooting skills. This role involves lots of travel throughout the UK & Ireland, so you will need to be flexible with this, and have a passion for providing customer service.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent: Electrical & Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
  • Previous work experience in an industrial maintenance role (ideally field based).
  • Excellent and systematic troubleshooting skills.
  • Highly Customer Service focused.
  • Excellent interpretation and understanding of electrical, mechanical and pneumatic diagrams.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical system maintenance.
  • Proven knowledge of industrial automation: sensors, variators and PLC systems.
  • Previous poultry industry experience would also be advantageous.
