Bonded Materials Scientist

• Carrying on chemical manufacturing and chromatographic analysis
• Responsible for Bonded Silica batch testing, involving assembling columns, performing testing then reporting results & observations to Supervisor for batch approval
• Support manufacture of silica batches by performing chemical reactions on silica (‘Silica Bonding’) and associated duties
• Handle laboratory chemicals including amorphous silica, organosilanes, acids, bases, solvents, and compressed gases
• Strictly always adhere to all protocols within lab – immediately report any concerns to Supervisor and Safety Officer.
• The role comprises both lab-based tasks (practical work) and office-based tasks (report writing, data manipulation etc).
• The role requires walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 5kg.

• A chemistry-based degree or equivalent
• At least 2 years’ experience working in a laboratory
• Intermediate computer skills or above with Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Demonstrable interest in chemistry and chromatography
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
